Omnibus Speaker Series: Monica Lewinsky

Jan 25, 2022
7:30 PM - 9:00 PM

Description

"The Price of Shame"

In her mid-20s, Monica Lewinsky went from a private citizen to a humiliated public figure due to the expansive nature of the internet-centered news cycle. Now, in the age of social media, Lewinsky provides insight into the painful realities of cyberbullying and online harassment. Her presentation mixes her own experiences of public humiliation enhanced by the digital revolution with ways to find compassion and empathy through social media.

A social activist in the battle against online harassment, Lewinsky advocates for a safer social media environment. As a public speaker, writer, and contributor to Vanity Fair, she addresses such topics as survival, resilience, digital reputation, and equality.

Lewinsky graduated with a degree in psychology from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, and while living abroad for graduate school, earned a master’s degree in social psychology from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Tickets will be available two weeks before the lecture.
